PUTRAJAYA, Aug 12, 2105:
A leakage of information pertaining a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation is the reason why the agency is being investigated in turn by police, says Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Paul Low Seng Kuan.
While reminding the police not to overstep its boundaries and respect the rights of MACC officers, he said these leaks were worrying and investigations into them needed to be carried out immediately.
“If investigations were being carried out into illegal gambling, that information should not be made public. We need to protect the integrity of the investigations.
“The investigation was not stopped but the leaks continued. That is why they were arrested and questioned,” he said when met recently.
Low said the police must tread carefully when carrying out its investigations.
“If documents are seized, it must relate to the investigations and returned once the probe is over
“We must not intimidate the investigating officers. Just because there is some suspicion of their activities, their rights still need to be respected.”
