A Year-Two student was allegedly beaten up with a pastel and mortar by his stepmother after he had allegedly lost the money given to him to buy her things.
As a result, the eight-year-old suffered bruises on his face.
The victim’s five-year-old brother was also said to have also been abused by their 33-year-old Indonesian stepmother who lives in Jelutong here.
Northeast district police chief Asst Commissioner Mior Farid Alathrash Wahid, said the incident was realised by the siblings’ aunt after she was informed by her nephew’s school teacher.
He added that further checks revealed more injuries, both fresh and old on the children’s body and head.
“The two children are now receiving treatment at the Penang Hospital and their stepmother has been remanded untilto assist in investigations.”
