PUCHONG, Aug 4, 2015:
It was short-lived joy for two criminals after they were shot dead for robbing a woman in front of a bank in Taman Puchong this morning. In the incident at around 11.15am, the 39-year-old woman had just walked out of the bank when she was approached by the two suspects, who broke her car window and took her purse. Selangor criminal investigation chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said 15 minutes after the incident, police tracked down the suspects who were escaping in a blue Honda City. They were intercepted at Persiaran Puchong Permai near a Tenaga Nasional Berhad power station, heading towards the direction of Taman Puchong Tekali 1. The suspects, who were about 1.5km from the robbery scene when police blocked their escape, tried to attack the cops with machetes. “The police had to fire several shots and both suspects were pronounced dead at the scene. “Initial investigations revealed that the getaway car used by the suspects had been reportedly stolen two days ago in Kelana Jaya.”
He said the suspects were believed to be using the stolen car to carry out robberies, following the discovery of three machetes in the car, with the suspects. Mohd Adnan added that the group was believed to have started its crime spree this year and were involved in nine robberies around Selangor namely in Sungai Buloh, Batu 9 Cheras, Dengkil, Puchong, Perdana Putra, Kampung Melayu Subang, Sri Kembangan, Melawati and Bukit Puchong. “We will make a thorough investigation and look into the identity of the suspect for further investigation.” The bodies of the suspects have been sent to Serdang Hospital for autopsy. The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed gang-robbery.
