KUCHING, July 23, 2015:
Sarawak police is tracing the identity of the Republic of Sarawak twitter account holder through @swakheadhunter to help investigation for allegedly inciting the people of Sarawak to get the state to secede from Malaysia.
Sarawak Crime Investigation Department chief SAC Dev Kumar M.M. Sree Shunmugam said investigation would be conducted under the Sedition Act.
“Yesterday a report has been lodged in the Sekama police station here by a police personnel after he read a tweet by @swakheadhunter that was seditious,” he said here today.
He said as at this afternoon, no arrest had been made and the police were still conducting investigation.
Meanwhile, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Seri Muhammad Sabtu Osman, when contacted by Bernama, also confirmed that the police had yet to arrest the holder of the Twitter account.
Yesterday Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar in a post on his Twitter account, said the Police Cyber Investigation Response Centre (PCIRC), had detected the holder of the account through ‘@swakheadhunter’.
