KUALA LUMPUR, July 8, 2015:
Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) contributed RM3 million to the State Disaster Relief Fund for victims of the earthquake which hit Ranau on June 5. Petronas president and Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin said the company’s management and staff were deeply saddened by the earthquake that resulted in loss of lives, livelihood and damage to properties. “Part of this contribution will be channelled to the mountain guides and others whose lives have been affected by the tragedy.” Earlier today, he handed over a mock cheque to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman at Seri Gaya, the official residence of the Chief Minister at Kota Kinabalu. Present at the ceremony were State Secretary, Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman, who was also the State Disaster Relief and Management Committee chairman, Petronas Sabah and Labuan chairman Mohamed Firouz Asnan, as well as Petronas Senior General Manager of Group Strategic Communications Liz Kamaruddin.
This contribution was in addition to the RM5 million that Petronas presented in aid of flood relief efforts carried out by the State Disaster Relief and Management Committee in April last year.
