KUALA LUMPUR, July 3, 2015:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today that despite the economic instability, the nation should be grateful that it still got to enjoy the month of Ramadhan in a peaceful and harmonious environment. He said, the 17th day of Ramadhan, also known as Nuzul al-Quran, which Muslims would observe tomorrow, marks the day when the first verse of the Quran was revealed to mankind, as the continuation to Allah’s previous revelations.
“The meaning behind the reason Quran was sent to the earth is closely related to Maslahah (a traditional concept in Islamic law) and for the benefit of the humankind. “This was also told by Allah in the Quran through Surah Shaah, verse 29. “Malaysia a progressive Islamic country that continues to strive in following the Quranic guidance in ensuring that the Syariah and its objectives will always be used as a guide in developing the country,” he said through his blog today. The Umno President added that the construction of the Quran Printing Centre which was announced in the 2015 Budget would begin on July 10. In the spirit of Nuzul al-Quran and the blessings of Ramadhan, Najib stressed that the government would stay committed to uplift the country despite the tests and accusations thrown at it. “Our aim in creating an advance and a high income country is in line with the demands of the Quran. “I pray that all of the Muslims in the country would be united under one agenda, which is the Ummah (Islamic community bound by the ties of religion). “The spirit of ta’awun (cooperation) needs to be nurtured and strengthened among us because that is the most important requirement in order for us to receive help and assistance from Allah.”
