KUALA LUMPUR, June 30, 2015:
Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek has confirmed the new petrol price increase from July 1.
The new rates include an increase of 20 sen for the RON97 petrol from the previous price of RM2.35 per litre to RM2.55 a litre.
While the commonly used RON95 petrol also increased by 10 sen from RM2.05 to RM2.15 effective immediately after midnight.
Diesel prices, however, remained unchanged at RM2.05 per litre.
The latest rates were confirmed by Hasan after being contacted by The Rakyat Posttoday
Earlier, Hasan had told the public that there will be no early announcement on monthly fuel price changes.
The Star, in its report today, quoted the minister as saying that consumers would only know the changes in fuel prices at midnight.
The new price of fuel is usually notified on the ministry’s website.
President of the Petronas Petroleum Dealers Association of Malaysia (Pesamp) Datuk Abu Samah Bachik, when contacted, said that he, too, did not get early information on the latest fuel prices despite the new price taking effect at midnight.
