KUALA LUMPUR, June 30, 2015:
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has urged the public to not be extreme when supporting an effort, but instead, practise moderation which is in line with Islam.
“Islam is a religion that teaches us moderation, wasatiyyah. It means, it is not too extreme but not too open.
“There is no need for a gay parade, whatsoever. That is too longgar (lose).
“What was the message exactly ? There is a deviant teaching spreading in our society,” he said in his speech at the Iftar event held at the Pulapol here today.
Also present during the event were Najib’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
In his speech, Najib also urged the public to completely reject terrorism ideology such as the Islamic State (IS) as it was too extreme and against moral values.
“What are their excuses for killing innocent people. In Islam, we are forbidden to kill civilians, even in war.
“Especially during peace time, killing people based on their skin colour, religious differences are completely forbidden.
“In fact, there were clashes between Muslims during Ramahan, for example, in Kuwait, Tunisia and France,” he added.
