KUALA LUMPUR, June 5, 2015:
Wife of former Finance Minister Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, Puan Sri Noor Yvonne Abdullah, passed away at 7.05pm today at the Sime Darby Medical Centre.
She was 68.
Her remains were then taken to their house in Jalan Langgak Golf here tonight.
Noor Yvonne was married to Tengku Razaleigh, her long-time friend, in 1995.
The former Malaysia Airlines (MAS) executive was previously known as Yvonne Law before her conversion to Islam.
Met at the house in Jalan Langgak Golf tonight, a relative Tengku Nazeehah Tengku Mahmud, 36, said Noor Yvonne passed away due to multiple myeloma, a disease she had been suffering from for the past year.Meanwhile, Tengku Razaleigh’s special officer Mohd Luqhman Ghani informed that the funeral would take place at 11am tomorrow at the Jalan Ampang Muslim cemetery. Among those present to pay their respects at Tengku Razaleigh’s home tonight were International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed and wife Datin Sri Khamarzan Ahmed Meah, and Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek and wife Datin Seri Sharipah Ismail.
Messages of condolences had also flooded social media where the public as well as notable politicians and ministers too offered their sympathy to Tengku Razaleigh and his family.Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor was among the ministers who offered his condolences to Tengku Razaleigh through his Facebook page. “Condolences to Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh and family on the passing of Puan Sri Noor Yvonne who passed away at SJMC at 7.05pm. “It is understood that remains of the deceased will be brought to Langgak Golf and to be buried tomorrow. May Allah place her soul among the righteous,” said Tengku Adnan. Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek on his Twitter said, “Condolences to Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah on the passing of his beloved wife. May Allah bless her soul.” DAP’s Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud also offered her condolences.
