KUALA LUMPUR, June 3, 2015:

The “1 Anjing 10 Ringgit” campaign which received a lot of negative feedback from the netizens has been called off.

According to their latest Facebook post today, Majlis Daerah Tanjong Malim (MDTM) explained that the campaign focuses on stray dogs only which had become a problem for the residents in Tanjong Malim and Slim River.

MDTM also mentioned that it would analyse further any alternatives in solving the issue faced by residents.

The council posted a campaign advertisement yesterday portraying two hostile dogs, in their Facebook page, calling for an exchange of RM10 for each dog that was handed to them.

However, angered netizens started slamming MDTM for an act they described as inhumane.

Some urged the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to take action while many others urged that the programme be called off.
