PADANG BESAR, May 30, 2015:
Members of the media were chased out of the Padang Besar Anti Smuggling Unit (UPP) complex after receiving late “orders” from the police.
This came after several journalists had earlier received information that a helicopter was on its way to transport the bodies that were being taken out from the Wang Kelian migrant graves here.
Despite being initially allowed into the complex, UPP commandant Bahari Ahmad changed his mind after receiving instructions from the police.
UPP commandant Bahari had initially allowed media in but later changed his mind after receiving instructions from the police.
“The higher ups have not sanctioned it,” he told the media entourage.
The police then ordered the group to leave the complex. Some of the broadcast television crew including TV3 were also forced to pack their cameras and equipment following the order.
It is learnt that the first helicopter landed at 10.45am.
Following the order, several police trucks were deployed throughout the complex area to increase security.
