KUALA LUMPUR, May 23, 2015:
PAS could lose yet another member in former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib should the Islamic party’s leadership show that it no longer cares about its non-Muslim support.
In a report by Malaysiakinitoday, Muhammad who is also popularly known as Mat Taib slammed the party’s present leadership, telling a forum that they had neglected the approach by the late PAS spritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, who commanded the love and respect of many regardless of religion and race.
“We want religious people such as Allahyarham Nik Aziz as leaders. Everyone loves him.
“The Buddhists love him, Hindus love him… Now I see it is no longer like that.
“Before this, I was very interested (to be) in PAS. Now, not so much,” he was quoted as saying during a forum titled “Looking for the New Malaysian Leader” in Petaling Jaya, today.
Additionally, the report also stated that Muhammad was disappointed over PAS’ affairs of late as it had caused former Umno member Datuk Thamrin Ghafar to resign from the party, last year.
“My friend Thamrin had left earlier. He said PAS is ridiculous (mengarut). I’m still waiting to see the outcome of the party election in June,” he said, adding that he could be following Thamrin’s footsteps should the status quo remain after next month’s party polls.
