MIRI, May 5, 2015:
An armed robber walked away with RM474,000 in cash from the Pelita Commercial Centre here.
In the noon incident, one man armed with a shotgun attacked two guards, who were escorting the cash from Servay Hypermarket into their armoured car.
It was learned that the suspect, who had his face covered, attacked the guards from the back and snatched the bag of cash from them.
He then fled the scene with another accomplice on a purple scooter without a number plate.
Miri deputy police chief Superintendent Stanley Johanthan Ringgit said no shots were fired, but the guards sustained minor injuries from the incident.
“The suspects are armed and dangerous. We have alerted surrounding districts of the incident and we are hunting them now.”
