KUALA LUMPUR, May 5, 2015:

While there has been very little information available publicly on how Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has been performing – as the firm was delisted from Bursa last year and no longer needs to publish quarterly reports – some good news has been reported by its cargo division.

“MASkargo’s throughput at Kuala Lumpur International Airport increased 11.5% in the first quarter of 2015,” reported industry publication aircargonews, reported from the Air Cargo Europe event.

MASkargo’s volumes climbed to 154,000 tonnes of cargo over the first three months of this year, up from 138,254 tonnes during the same period of 2014, the publication reported.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that MAS has appointed Tan Kok Meng as its new chief information officer, effective May 18, 2015.

Prior to his appointment, Tan was the Group CIO and head of regional shared services at Malayan Banking Bhd and had served as programme director for finance transformation at AstraZeneca (Malaysia), the airline said in a statement.

“Tan brings with him over 20 years of experience in the IT and management capacities and will assist the company in developing enhanced IT structures and support moving forward,” MAS chief executive officer Christoph Mueller said.
