KUALA LUMPUR, April 5, 2015:
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has released the identities of all six on board the helicopter that crashed near Semenyih, Kajang, this afternoon.
Apart from special envoy to the United States Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis and the Prime Minister’s senior private secretary Datuk Azlin Alias, the others were pilot Captain Clifford William Fournier, his co-pilot Aidana Baizieva, Jamaluddin’s bodyguard Razakan B Seran and SP Baiduri Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Tan Huat Seang.
Below is Liow’s official statement:
“It is with great sorrow that I confirm reports of fatalities in relation to the crash of a civilian helicopter, which occurred earlier today in Semenyih, Kajang.
“We offer our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those affected.
“Six people were on board the helicopter, comprising the pilot, Captain Clifford William Fournier, the operations assistant, Aidana Baizieva, Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis and his bodyguard Razakan B Seran, Datuk Sri Azlin Alias and Dato’ Tan Huat Seang.
“The aircraft was owned by IGB Corporation and operated by Cempaka Aviation.
“All six remains have been recovered and sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur. The Department of Civil Aviation has initiated an investigation into this crash.
“On a personal note, I am struck by this tragic news as Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin and Datuk Sri Azlin were both colleagues of mine whom I knew personally.
“This is indeed a great loss and my thoughts and prayers are with their families and the families of the other victims during this tragic time.”
