KUALA LUMPUR, April 4, 2015:
During the era of his leadership, former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad asked for full loyalty from his Cabinet members and Umno party members.
This was said by Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, when asked to comment on Dr Mahathir’s heavy criticism of current Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
“During Mahathir’s era, he wanted full loyalty from those under him,” Ahmad Zahid said, adding that the reminder was given to the ministers as well as Umno Supreme Council members by Dr Mahathir when the latter was leading the country.
“That is my only comment, I do not want to say more,” Ahmad Zaid added at a press conference today, at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), here.
Recently, Dr Mahathir, in a strongly worded blog post, had criticised Najib on several administrative, financial and personal issues.
Many had come to the defence of Najib, with the most recent being Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who said he supported Najib and that he did not agree with Dr Mahathir on the remark that Barisan Nasional would lose the next general election under Najib’s administration.
