KUALA LUMPUR, April 3, 2015:

Controversial cartoonist Zulkiflee Anwar Ulhaque was rearrested at the Sessions Court here, this afternoon.

Better known as Zunar, he was detained following the posting of a picture that included the Prime Minister on his Facebook account.

KL CID chief ACP Zainuddin Ahmad said Zunar’s statement would be taken before the police would proceed with further action.

“The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications Act,” he said.

Zunar was rearrested after he claimed trial to nine charges of sedition for allegedly insulting the judiciary in tweets made in the wake of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s conviction in the Sodomy 2 case.

According to The Star, the 53-year-old was charged before the Sessions Court with publishing seditious tweets through the account @zunarkartunis at 3pm on Feb 10.

With bail fixed for all the charges at a total of RM22,500 with one surety, the court then set May 20 for next mention.
