NEW York, March 31, 2015:
Can a South Korean rapper top TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People this year?
Anything is possible, especially if she is Lee Chae-rin, the singer and rapper better known as CL, one fourth of the South Korean girl group 2NE1.
CL, 24, is currently leading the poll with 9.5% of votes as of today, while Lady Gaga is in second place with 3.2%. CL is also way ahead of Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Rihanna
One of the group’s shows made the New York Times’ best concerts list in 2012 — and broke Billboard records as one of the most successful K-pop acts around.
TIME magazine opened their readers’ polls for its annual 100 Most Influential People list on March 24.
This year’s list of 158 candidates includes Emma Watson, Malala Yousafzal, Taylor Swift, Barack Obama, Pope Francis and the Dalai Lama.
CL is the third Korean entertainer to be up for votes in the annual reader’s poll, following Rain and PSY.
The online poll will remain open until 11.59pm on April 10, and the winner will be announced on April 13.
Last year’s poll was dominated by Indian politicians.
