KUALA LUMPUR, MArch 16, 2015:
The Kelantan government should concentrate on rebuilding the state instead of putting its energy into getting the hudud law passed.
Seremban Member of Parliament Anthony Loke said the state government should put the people’s needs first.
He was commenting on the Merdeka Centre survey which found that the people wanted the state government to concentrate on rebuilding the state instead of implementing hudud.
Loke said the real issue for the people was reconstruction.
“I hope the Kelantan state leaders will heed the call of the people to place importance on rebuilding the state after the major destruction caused by the recent floods.”
Also commenting on the issue, Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli said he would wait for a report from the state government before making a statement.
“We had a meeting last Thursday on the issue.”
Kuala Krai MP Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli said the answer in the survey was logical.
“The delay in rebuilding cannot solely be the responsibility of the state government but also the federal government.”
Dr Hatta agreed that the rebuilding was going slowly, adding that hudud and rebuilding were two different issues.
He added that the state and federal governments needed to work together to rebuild the state.
