GEORGE TOWN, MARCH 2 2015:

A group of disgruntled housewives have lodged a police report against a Facebook user by the name Peter Lee for allegedly superimposing the face of the Prime Minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, on the body of a pig to resemble a pig centaur.

They urged the matter to be investigated by the Home Ministry and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for action to be taken against the perpetrator.

Describing the act as racist, disgusting and disrespectful to the sensitivities of Malays and Muslims in the country, especially towards the wife of the Prime Minister, the group of about 40, all clad in red, called for immediate action.

The group’s spokesperson, Kuraishah Syed Mohamad, who is also Bayan Baru Umno information chief, said though the Facebook user had used Chinese characters in his Facebook posting, it did not mean that the Chinese community in the country would condone the act.

“My friends who are Chinese read to me the meaning of his posting and I really have no heart to repeat what he had written. “How anyone can commit such a a disrespectful act is beyond me and we’re here today to lodge this report so that the authorities can investigate and take action.

“We live in a multiracial and multi-ethnic society and we should respect each other’s sensitivities. “Peter Lee should be more sensitive as the pig is haram in Islam and for Rosmah’s image to be superimposed in such a manner is just going overboard,” said Kuraishah after lodging the police report at the Bayan Baru police station at 2pm today.

She added that the posting, which she claimed was still not taken down, was a form of serious degradation towards Muslims in the country.

Eleven groups, comprising Bayan Batu Umno and non-governmental organisations, including Persatuan Ibu-ibu Tunggal Bayan Baru, lodged reports today.
