PUCHONG, Jan 17, 2015:
PKR is alleging that a former Umno leader will stand to profit a whopping RM137 million from a 19% increase in MyEG’s share prices.
MyEG is a Malaysian E-government concessionaire. It’s share prices rose following the government’s decision to outsource the registration of migrant workers to it.
Semambu assemblyman Lee Chean Chung alleged that Datuk Raja Munir Shah, the former Penang Umno Information chief, was purportedly a major shareholder in MyEG with a 31.1% stake in the company.
Lee and PKR treasurer Datin Paduka Tan Yee Kew said they had lodged a complaint with the Malaysian Competition Commission (MyCC) over the alleged sum that Raja Munir would stand to gain.
“We are awaiting a professional and detailed investigation by MyCC and have reminded it that Ahmad Zahid is a person who can help in the investigation of MyEG’s monopoly,” Lee said at a Press conference, referring to Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
His fellow PKR colleague, Sungai Petani Member of Parliament Datuk Johari Abdul said if Ahmad Zahid were to remain silent on the issue, then it showed that the matter was not in his hands.
He also wondered if the matter was outside the Umno vice-president’s power.
“If he stays silent, personally, I feel there are hidden hands,” he claimed.
