KEMAMAN, Oct 26, 2014:

A security guard at a disused plywood mill in the Jakar Industrial Estate was found dead by a colleague at the guard post here at 4pm yesterday.

Zahari Abdullah, 53, of Kampung Jong Berlabuh, was believed to have been dead for about three hours based on the condition of his body, which had turned pale.

His wife, Halimah Ripin, 42, said she received a telephone call from her husband’s friend informing her that he had died.

Halimah said her husband had not been suffering from any ailment and had earlier told her he had withdrawn money sent by their daughter from the automatic teller machine (ATM) as he wanted the two of them to have dinner together after he finished work later.

He was said to have just arrived at his guard post after taking a break at 10am.

Meanwhile, Kemaman police chief Supt Che Suza Che Hitam, when contacted, confirmed having received a report on the incident.

He said the case had been classified as sudden death and that Zahari’s body had been sent to the Kemaman Hospital.
