KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17, 2014:
Jingga 13 chief coordinator Fariz Musa has stepped out in defence Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said pro-Reformasi youth group Lensa Anak Muda Malaysia (Lensa) was ignorant of Anwar’s struggle in saying that people had grown tired of his politics.
In a statement directed to the leader released today, Lensa coordinator Ekhsan Bukharee said citizens had grown tired of Anwar’s political ways and explained that the spirit of solidarity once held by the leader was no longer there.
“The support for Anwar is still strong as he is fighting for the rakyat.
“Lensa should realise that many people are sympathetic and unwilling to see Anwar going to jail, especially when he is a victim of a conspiracy to end his political career through questionable trials,” Fariz said in a statement responding to Lensa.
Fariz said the “reformasi” movement started by Anwar had exposed the cruelty and despotism of the Mahathir regime as well as Umno and Barisan Nasional, in referring to Anwar’s fight against former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad which got him arrested under the ISA and landed him in jail.
He added Lensa was not even around when Anwar was jailed in 1998 on sodmoy charges.
“Anwar could have taken the easy way out but he decided to stand up to Umno and Barisan Nasional and was persecuted in the process.
“The cruelty against Anwar is also cruelty against the people,” he said.
Fariz also urged young people to express their solidarity to Anwar this Oct 28 and 29 at the Federal Court in Putrajaya, when Anwar
would know if he is to be found guilty in connection with his Sodomy 2 case.
