KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23, 2014 :
Selangor PAS is glad the state Menteri Besar fiasco has ended and hopes the MB Mohamed Azmin Ali would continue Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s legacy.
Its commissioner, Iskandar Abd Samad, thanked Abdul Khalid’s contribution towards the state and his commitment in placing the public’s interest over everything else.
“We hope under Azmin’s administration, the excellent performance achieved under Abdul Khalid’s will be continued.
“We are also glad that Pakatan Rakyat is still in charge of Selangor even though there were moments over the past one a half months when the state government almost collapsed.”
In a press statement today, Iskandar said four of the party’s state executive councillors (exco) were the ones who had prevented Selangor from going through a state election.
“These four excos, on our instructions, had protected Pakatan Rakyat’s interests in the government by, for example, ensuring PKR and DAP councillors’ services were continued and all the exco-planned programmes were carried out smoothly.
“Although these four exco members are from PAS, they have carried with them the spirit and the principles of Pakatan Rakyat.
“They have also sternly rejected any co-operation with Umno when they said that they would resign if Umno was brought into the government.”
He went on to say that the party believed it would be able to work with Mohamed Azmin as it had shown support for him since the start of the fiasco.
“This can be seen in the decision made in our August 17th central meeting where Azmin was named as one of the three candidates for the post.”
It is now time for Pakatan Rakyat to work towards restoring the public’s faith in the coalition, said Iskandar.
