KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22, 2014:
Students will be resitting the leaked Mathematics and Tamil papers on Oct 9.
The Examination Syndicate in a statement released today said the Mathematics paper 015, 025 and 035 were leaked.
It added that the Tamil papers 036 and 037 were also leaked.
The Syndicate said the Mathematics paper that students took on Sept 10 and Tamil paper on Sept 10 were cancelled.
Over 470,000 pupils sat for the Mathematics paper on Sept 9 and 10 while around 18,000 pupils took the Tamil paper on Sept 10.
“The new date chosen was because of the time it would take to print new exam papers, the logistics involved and also because of the Hari Raya Aidil Adha public holiday.”
Education director-general Datuk Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof, in the statement, said he regretted the problems faced by the students and everyone else.
He said as director-general he apologised to everyone involved following the leaks in the two papers.
He added he had directed all headmasters to provide counselling to all students who required it.
“I have also taken over the whole examination process which has been under the examination syndicate.”
As the first step, Khair said he had immediately ordered the transfer of examination syndicate officers to improve on its management and the way it carried out public examinations.
He added steps had also been taken to improve security in the management process and how exam papers were handled at the examination syndicate and right up to exam centres.
English papers 014/1 and 014/2 were also cancelled, while the exams for the Science 018, 028 and 038 papers were postponed before the pupils could sit for them.
The Examinations Syndicate has fixed Sept 30 for the pupils to resit the examinations.
