KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13, 2014:
Suspended PKR member Badrul Hisham Shaharin has challenged Mohamed Azmin Ali to provide a letter to the Selangor palace that he would turn down the Menteri Besar post if nominated.
He also threatened to release a copy of a letter the deputy PKR president allegedly sent to the palace nominating himself for the MB’s post.
Badrul Hisham Shaarin, or Chegubard, in a press conference at the KL Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall (KLSCAH) today, alleged that although Mohamed Azmin agreed to PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the MB candidate and turned down his own candidacy in public, things were not as they seemed.
He went on to accuse the Gombak Member of Parliament of secretly lobbying the palace for the MB post and sabotaging the party prior, during and after the 13th General Election.
This included, Badrul Hisham alleged, sending his representatives to meet with leaders from PAS and DAP to nominate himself as well as submitting his own name to the palace without the knowledge of PKR’s leaders.
“The public has to know that he lobbied to be MB in secret, which is the cause of PKR (and) PR chaos in Selangor.
“From the beginning, he has dreamed of the Selangor MB post,” Chegubard said.
When asked if he had confronted Mohamed Azmin with these allegations and when he would produce evidence to back his allegations, Chegubard said they had butted heads many times.
The press conference today saw Chegubard launching a long list of attacks against Mohamed Azmin.
WhenThe Rakyat Postattempted to contact Mohamed Azmin for a response, as at press time, these attempts have been fruitless.
Attempts to contact his staff as well PKR to comment were also unsuccessful.
In May, Chegubard had his PKR membership suspended following the decision of the party’s disciplinary board.
The board said Chegubard’s claims that the party’s election was not transparent as a reason to suspend him.
He had also made allegations attacking Mohamed Azmin, stating that the party’s central election committee was an agent of Mohamed Azmin.
