KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10, 2014:
A non-governmental organisation (NGO) has slammed PKR and DAP for being insincere in apologising to the Sultan of Selangor for upsetting him by submitting only one candidate for the Selangor Menteri Besar post.
Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia (MJMM) president Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah said both PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng should seek forgiveness in accordance with the palace’s tradition and protocol.
“These include seeking an audience with the Sultan of Selangor to seek his pardon.
“PKR and DAP cannot simply apologise to His Royal Highness through the media as it smacks of insincerity,” he told reporters after lodging a report on the matter at the Sentul police station this afternoon.
He claimed political leaders in the past had always apologised for offending the rulers by seeking a royal audience, but such cases were not highlighted in the media.
He also took a swipe at both parties for not immediately apologising to the Sultan of Selangor on the same day that His Royal Highness expressed disappointment with PKR and DAP.
“It seems that they only apologised on realising that public opinion are against them.”
Only PAS had complied with the Sultan’s request and had submitted three names as potential MB candidates.
