SHAH ALAM, Sept 7, 2014:
Four players have been dropped from the Malaysian squad for the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, starting on Sept 19. They are Bobby Gonzales, Mohamad Firdaus Muhamad, Mohammad Ridzuan Abdunloh Pula and Mohamad Faizat Mohamad Ghazli. Harimau Muda A coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee said the fate of another player depends on the condition of A. Thamilarasu who was hurt when playing against Yemen this afternoon. “I had to choose between Farhan (Mohd Nor Farhan Mohamad) and Bobby. Farhan gets the nod as he can play on the right and left. “The players will leave for China on Saturday for another friendly match on Sept 10 before going to Korea,” he told reporters after the friendly match against Yemen yesterday. Commenting on Malaysia’s 0-1 loss to Yemen, Kim Swee said he had a positive view of the players performance at Shah Alam Stadium this afternoon. “Overall, I am satisfied with the team’s performance. There are some weaknesses that need to be improved, especially in attack,” he added. At the Asiad, Malaysia are in Group A and will face South Korea in the curtain raiser on Sept 14 before playing Saudi Arabia and Laos. The top two teams from each of the eight groups qualify for the second round.
