KUALA LUMPUR, July 27:
Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has thanked PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat and the Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob for supporting him.
The embattled Selangor Menteri Besar also apologised to them because the tussle in Selangor had indirectly and directly disrupted their routine, especially during the last 10 days of Ramadan, which is usually filled with religious duties.
Instead, the duo had to deal with the political quagmire in Selangor.
“I also want to apologise to the people of Selangor, especially the Muslims for they, too, were dragged into this political uncertainty,” he said in a press statement.
He promised during the end of Ramadan and through the Aidilfitri celebrations, he would ensure the administration of Selangor was handled well.
Khalid said he made the promise as the people had faith in his administration since 2008,.
“I will ensure Selangor’s success and make sure it is blessed by Allah”.
Nik Aziz had earlier today backed Khalid as the Selangor MB, stating that the latter had administered the state well since his appointment and managed to garner encouraging results in the 13th General Election.
The former Kelantan Menteri Besar urged members to agree with the decision made by its party president, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, who had backed Khalid to remain as the Menteri Besar.
Two days ago, Hadi publicly backed Khalid to remain as Menteri Besar citing the support from PAS grassroots members.
This came after PKR de-facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had on Tuesday announced that Pakatan Rakyat (PR) had accepted the party’s proposal for Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to take over as Menteri Besar.
