MALAYSIAN actress Michelle Yeoh will return for the sequel of the Oscar-winning martial arts epicCrouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

According toEcns.cn, the sequel will be a Chinese-American production. The announcement was made at the recent 17th Shanghai International Film Festival.

Co-produced by Pegasus Media, the China Film Group Corp and the Weinstein Co, TheGreen Destinywill be shot this year in New Zealand and China, and scheduled for release in 2016.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,directed by Ang Lee and released in 2000, grossed US$213.5 million and won four Oscars, including Best Foreign Language Film.

Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh, who starred in the first instalment, will be in the movie with Hong Kong actor Nicholas Tse, whose comeback has also been confirmed.

Viewers can expect spectacular action in theThe Green Destinywhich will focus on the battles for a precious ancient Chinese sword.

Special effects, makeup and costumes professionals fromThe Lord of the Ringsmovies will be invited to work on the production.

Apparently, it will retain the Oriental flavour of the first instalment while presenting more stunning visual effects with the help of foreign expertise.
