EATING out in the Klang Valley can be quite expensive, but there are bargains to be found – like the ‘Timeout’ offer at Tony Roma’s restaurants.

While you’d expect to pay premium prices at such a full service food outlet, the weekday specials from 3pm to 6pm are priced at only RM9.90 per dish!

This is cheaper than a satisfying helping of nasi briyani or mixed servings at your corner mamak restaurant – given that meat dishes are now generally priced at least RM6 each.

In fact, just three pieces of roti canai at RM2.50 each plus a serving of curried chicken can lighten your wallet by more than RM10.

A spokesperson for Tony Roma’s said the restaurant chain’s ‘Timeout’ offer has received very strong acceptance among urbanites, with sales up 25% since the promotion was unveiled.

The tagline for the promotion even used to be: “I skipped lunch for Tony Roma’s.”

The food chain now has nine selections with the ‘Timeout’ offer – fish and chips plus eight other dishes with chicken – from burgers to pasta.

“We are looking to add more value-added items to the current menu,” said the spokesperson. “We also have a Rib2 promotion at RM36.90, instead of the normal RM45.90 price.”

If this offer isn’t already attractive enough, Tony Roma’s also has a loyalty programme where RM10 is knocked off your next visit if you retain the receipt and complete an online survey.

This essentially means a four-person meal ends up being free for one member of the group.

Owned by Ekuiti Nasional Bhd, Tony Roma’s now has six outlets within Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya.

Its seventh outlet is opening next week at KL Sentral with plans for another two in the Klang Valley and its first in Johor baru by year-end.
