KUALA LUMPUR, May 17:
Veteran actress Ruminah Sidek, 68, tied the knot this morning with her fiance, Al Fatah Rahim Ismail, 70.
Ruminah, more fondly known as Mak Mah, officially became Al Fatah’s wife in a solemnisation ceremony held at her brother-in-law’s house in Meru, Klang, at 9.20am, according to MStar Online.
It was then followed by a reception for some 3,000 guests.
Her son, actor and host, Adlin Aman Ramlie, who was present, had cheekily tweeted last night: “Besok ada orang nak kahwin!” (Somebody’s getting married tomorrow!).
After her engagement last month, Mak Mah told The Rakyat Post that she had never put marriage out of the picture as it was a big part of Islam if one was capable.
In telling the story of how she met Al Fatah, Mak Mah could not hold back tears as she was elated to begin this new phase in her life.
She met Al Fatah during an umrah trip to the holy land Mecca, as they were part of the same group.
“I found out from a fellow group member that Al Fatah’s wife had passed away and he was looking to get married. I tried approaching him and poured my heart out.
“‘Is is true you are looking for a wife? I am tired of being alone’,” she said about her conversation with Al Fatah.
Their engagement ceremony was held on April 19, also at her brother-in-law’s house in Meru, Klang.
Al Fatah, who is a Felda Jelai settler in Gemas Negri Sembilan, has 10 children from his previous marriage.
Mak Mah has been married four times previously, including a marriage to the late legendary comedian AR Tompel.
She has six children, 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
