American President Barack Obama has no plans to meet Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim when he visits Kuala Lumpur next week.

According to a report by AFP, US officials did not rule out a lower-level meeting, although national security adviser Susan Rice said that the President was not likely to meet Anwar, when asked by reporters.

“I think that the President is not likely to have that meeting — there may be other engagements at other levels,” Rice was quoted as saying.

Obama is set to be the second US President after Lyndon B Johnson to visit Malaysia when he arrives on April 26.
