A bungalow owner in Taman Melawati, Ampang Jaya, faced the fury of Mother Nature.
Water from a nearby hill caused a landslip behind the house late on Tuesday evening, causing tonnes of earth to ram into the rear wall of the building.
The muddy water had also gushed into Mohamad Hassan’s house in Jalan Melawati 5.
Mohamad said his nightmare began about 6.30pm during a downpour.
“I heard rumbling sounds behind my house. When I opened the rear door, water flowed from the hill into my house.
“Wasting no time, I closed all the doors and windows. But the water still flooded the kitchen.
“The next thing I heard was something like an explosion and saw earth slamming against the wall behind the house.”
The impact caused by the earth affected the wall structure, said Mohamad, 64, who has been staying at the house for 13 years.
He said he was awaiting an order from the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council over the risk factors involved in staying at the bungalow before deciding what to do.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Deputy Assistant Director Sani Harul said the department received a call at 6.35pm on the incident.
