JOHOR BARU, Jan 13, 2016:
An image of a Chinese coffee shop’s payment counter, that is surrounded by stainless steel bars, has gone viral on social media today.
The coffee shop in question is just outside the city centre in Taman Seri Orkid.
The payment counter looks like what you see at a bank, money changer, goldsmith or pawnshop with its stainless steel bars. This “cage” is believed to be for security reasons.
The image was uploaded on the “I Love JB” Facebook community page about 3pm today and has since went viral with 1,206 shares by 8pm.
The “I Love JB” Facebook page is mainly in Chinese.
Among the comments was by one Thirukumaran Munusamy who said that the country was not safe any more. “… is telling that MALAYSIA no longer SAFE …” read his comment.
Facebook user Christine Lee’s comment was short and read: “Useless country.”
Another user, Chang Huiying, on the other hand, said the coffeeshop owner was just taking precautions against crime.
A comment by user Joycelyn Lin asked what the fuss was about as it was just a coffeeshop.
“Y so bad…? …is just a coffeeshop,” read her post.
