SUBANG JAYA, 14 May 2017:
The police plan to screen people found drinking alcoholic beverages in public parks for possible drug abuse, said Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Mohammad Azlin Sadari.
He said he had ordered his men to check on all parks in Subang Jaya to weed out the groups who abuse the use of public facilities. “We are planning to screen those drinking at parks for drug abuse”
He urged groups who frequent public spaces like parks to consume alcoholic beverages to stop their habit immediately.
“We have received many complaints from residents about this nuisance. Groups who gather in the night to drink are making a lot of noise and they leave their litter all over the park.
“We will not hesitate to detain or issue summonses to those who continue to drink in parks. This is my warning to all. Stop drinking in public spaces or you will face the music when we catch you.
“We will continue to monitor the situation together with the Subang Jaya Municipal Council and residents groups. Residents can call us if they spot groups gathering at their parks to drink at night. We will act.”
He was responding to complaints from residents about the rampant abuse of public parks by groups who consumed alcoholic beverages during the night and for disturbing the peace. Many of the groups also leave behind litter all over the parks. – SJ Echo
