Man swept away by flash flooding found 25km away

SEREMBAN, 18 April 2017:

The body of R. Sri Durai, 48, who drowned when his car was swept away by currents into the river in a flash flood along Jalan Sungai Gadut-Rantau on Saturday, has been found.

Negeri Sembilan Fire and Rescue director Norazam Khamis said the body was located at Sungai Linggi riverbank near Pekan Linggi at 11.20am today.

“The body was found by a Special Tactical Operation Rescue Malaysia (Storm) team, about 25km from the site of the incident.”

He said the remains were handed to police for post-mortem at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital here.

In the incident, the victim was driving his Proton Saga FLX with a friend, M. Siva Ganes, 35, as passenger when they were trapped in a flash flood near a river. Siva managed to escape to safety.

The vehicle was later found in Sungai Simen, about 2km from the scene at Ladang Kombok at 11.38pm.
