KUALA LUMPUR, 18 April 2017:
The Federal Territories Ministry spent RM1.3 million last year to get rid of illegal advertisements in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan said the expenditure involved cleaning up glue residue, repainting the surfaces affected, repairing infrastructure that were damaged and using anti-sticker paints on strategic locations.
“The work involved signboards, telephone kiosks, utility poles, traffic light poles, utility boxes, pedestrian bridges, road dividers and trees in the three Federal Territories,” he told the Dewan Negara today.
He was replying to a question from Senator Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah who had asked about the matter.
Loga Bala said the problem was still happening because people wanted to take the easy way out and avoid paying the necessary fees for the permits and that ministry was doing all it can to go after the perpetrators.
