SUBANG JAYA, 6 Feb 2016:
A family of four perished in a pre-dawn fire in USJ2 here today – sending shockwaves across the neighbourhood.
In the 5.30am incident, a couple in their 50s and their two sons were found dead upstairs with burns on their bodies.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said two fire engines with 16 personnel, one from Subang Jaya and Damansara were dispatched to the scene.
“The father and two sons were found in the bedroom of the double storey house lying face down while the mother was found in the toilet in a sitting position.
“The house was badly burned. About 80% of the house was damaged. The downstairs portion of the house was totally destroyed.”
Mohd Sani said the victims were overcome by smoke – suffocation is suspected to be the cause of death. He said all the four bodies had been sent to Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem.
He said the fire is believed to have started from the ground floor.
Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Mohammad Azlin Sadari said the family was survived by a daughter who was not in the house as she was believed to be studying at a college in the Klang Valley.
The yet-to-be identified home owner is believed to be an active Rukun Tetangga member in USJ2 as well as the Subang Jaya Voluntary Patrol Unit. – SJ Echo
