KUCHING, 11 Jan 2017:
The Sarawak government has declared tomorrow a public holiday in the state to mourn the passing of Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg, who announced this at a press conference here, said the state would observe seven days of mourning where the state flag would be flown at half mast.
He said the Sarawak Chief Minister’s remains would be brought from his private residence in Santubong to Masjid Jamek Sarawak, Petra Jaya at 10am for the people to pay their final respects from 10.30am to 1pm.
“Members of the public coming to pay their last respects are advised to dress in black.”
Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas was also present at the press conference.
Adenan died due to complications of heart disease at 1.24pm today at the Kota Samarahan Heart Centre here. He was 72.
The funeral is scheduled to be held at the Samariang Muslim Cemetery here after the midday prayers tomorrow.
