KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29, 2015:

DAP wants the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to explain its lengthy investigation into the party, as its Central Executive Committee (CEC) re-elections were held two years ago.

The party’s national organising secretary Anthony Loke said the RoS had also failed to clarify the recommendations that the party had yet to follow.

“We want to know what is its ‘niat dan muslihat’ (intentions and ploy) as it has been two years since the Sept 2013 (re-elections) that it had instructed us to conduct.

“We have complied with the instructions, and our term for the CEC is only three years which ends next year.

“This is why we are very dissatisfied because it is as though RoS is sitting on it,” the Seremban Member of Parliament said at a press conference in the Parliament lobby today.

In a written response, earlier today, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the RoS was still conducting its investigation on the party as the latter’s management had yet to act upon advice given to it.

On April 3, last year the party had filed for a judicial review on the RoS’ actions but had withdrawn it in Sept 2014 after the federal counsel ruled that the recommendations were not legally binding.

Loke added there were currently over 200 DAP branches that were still in limbo over the matter as they had yet to be registered with the RoS as a result of the probe.

Puchong Member of Parliament Gobind Singh Deo, who was also present at the press conference, said the party would consider pursuing the matter in court.
