KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2, 2015:
PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli said he was delighted for Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) after the Registrar of Societies (RoS) officially recognised it as a political entity.
“I am glad and feel so happy for them.
“Amanah is now in a position to go all out to participate in national politics,” he said when contacted.
The Pandan lawmaker said he was confident that Amanah would now be able to contribute towards change in the country.
DAP Serdang Member of Parliament Ong Kian Ming also welcomed the decision.
“This is part and parcel of overcoming the many obstacles towards building a better and stronger opposition coalition to face the Barisan Nasional in the next general election,” he told The Rakyat Post.
Earlier today, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, who is better known as Mat Sabu, said the RoS had approved the application to rename Parti Pekerja Malaysia to Amanah.
Amanah, launched on Sept 16, is a new party formed by a splinter faction from Islamist opposition party PAS, who earlier tried to call the new party Parti Progresif Islam, but it was rejected by RoS.
It was then that it took over the inactive Malaysian Workers Party.
Amanah is also part of the newly-launched Pakatan Harapan’s loose coalition that was established to replace Pakatan Rakyat.
