KOTA KINABALU, Aug 30, 2015:

Police have blocked all entry points for vehicles to the Teluk Likas 2 public park, which according a DAP lawmaker was a  “directive from above”.

Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Jimmy Wong, who is also the Sabah DAP chief, said that was the reply he received  from cops stationed at the Likas Plaza area.

Bersih Sabah chairperson Jannie Lasimbang in updating the media said police had set up roadblocks at key entry points to the park since yesterday.

The group is supposed to do their Walk for Democracy today at 9am, but since access to the park is impossible, the organisers have been forced to re-route.

“For now, our lawyers are advising us to stay put here at the park. Lawyers are coming over. Some of our supporters are walking towards us right now. Bersih is not discouraged,” said one of the Bersih 4 organisers identified only as Matt.

Some Bersih supporters, meanwhile, told The Rakyat Post, that several policemen wished them good luck as they made their way to the park.

By 10am, close to 300 supporters had gathered at the park.
