KUALA LUMPUR, August 8, 2015:

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said he is a man who takes responsibility for all his actions and would never sell out his own country.

In a Facebook posting this evening, he said the RM2.6 billion in donations that was deposited into the Prime Minister’s private bank accounts were in the interest of Umno and the rakyat.

He also stressed that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had asserted that the donation was for political purposes and that the money did not come from the state investment arm 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Najib also posted an abbreviated version of the message, also in Bahasa Malaysia, on Twitter.

Earlier, he had also pledged to find out what happened to ill-fated Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 which disappeared last year while enroute to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur.

“I give my guarantee that Malaysia remains committed to doing everything possible to find verification of what happened to MH370,” wrote Najib in Bahasa Malaysia.

“People want to lead a peaceful lives. The terrorists are short-sighted, and this is one of the causes of rampant suicide bombings. We cannot solve this problem only through prayers. I am a Buddhist and I believe in praying. But humans have created this problem, and now we are asking God to solve it. It is illogical. God would say, solve it yourself because you created it in the first place. So let us work for peace within our families and society, and not expect help from God, Buddha or the governments.”

Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader, when asked about prayers for those who died in the Paris terrorist attack, says the world must not ask God to fix man-made problems.
