KUALA LUMPUR, May 22, 2015:
PAS is ready to end its political ties with its counterpart DAP, according to party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.
According to news portal astroawani.com, Abdul Hadi had made the statement when asked to comment on the call made by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng who proposed for a shadow Cabinet that did not involve the other Pakatan Rakyat component parties, PAS and PKR.
He had reportedly said that DAP’s action was unrealistic and that a shadow Cabinet should not merely take into account the interests of a certain group.
“If (DAP) wants to leave, then leave, I need to be in Malaysia, Malaysia is a multiracial country.
“We already have many groups and non-Muslim NGOs,” said Abdul Hadi after Friday prayers in Marang, Terengganu today, as was quoted by the portal.
Hadi also said that DAP was not in a position to make claims as the party was not the only one that represented non-Muslims in the country.
Lim had earlier stated that DAP did not wish to have any relationship with the PAS president, rejecting the coalition’s leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah’s proposal for a shadow Cabinet that involved all its Members of Parliament.
Lim also said that Abdul Hadi would be hard to control as he had the veto power to dismiss any decision agreed together with Pakatan Rakyat.
