Centre to support exiting MAS employees opens on June 1

According to the CDC, its team will provide practical steps, advice and support for the concerned MAS employees to plan their next move as smoothly as possible.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 22, 2015:

The Corporate Development Centre (CDC), created to support exiting Malaysia Airlines System Bhd (MAS) employees with their career transition, officially opens on June 1.

CDC offers free outplacement and training services for the employees to help them make the most of their skills and talent, and plan for the future.

Set up by Khazanah Nasional Bhd as part of the 12-Point MAS Recovery Plan (MRP), the CDC provides them with a broad range of services, including talent profiling, career counselling, basic and detailed training, job-seeking skills, entrepreneurship, retirement planning and placement.

In a statement here today, the CDC said its team would provide practical steps, advice and support for the concerned employees to plan their next move as smoothly as possible.

Its main training facility is currently located at the Malaysia Airlines Academy in Kelana Jaya, Selangor.

The CDC’s services are also available at the Penang Skills Development Centre, Sarawak Skills Development Centre (Kuching) and Sabah Skills and Technology Centre (Kota Kinabalu).

Other facilities would be established at key locations throughout the country on an as needed basis, CDC said.

Individuals can register for CDC’s services at all of the mentioned locations and the Career Transition Services are free.

Chief Executive Officer Shahryn Azmi said the CDC understood that each exiting employee was unique, with specific knowledge skills, talent and experiences that were relevant to employers across different industries.

“This means the best path forward will be different for different people.”

Meanwhile, MAS Chief Executive Officer and also CEO-designate of NewCo MAS, Christoph Mueller said the airline was committed to providing as much support as possible to help the exiting employees transition from the airline to mapping new career steps.

CDC currently offers over 400 programmes, courses or classes that are relevant to the market across many industries, with more to come.

Individuals will have access to a wide variety of choices, including business, communications, entrepreneurship, engineering, marketing and information technology (IT).

Training modules include essential skills and knowledge such as Business Plan Writing, Financial Management, Computer Literacy, Communications Skills, CV Writing and Personal Grooming.
