KUALA LUMPUR, April 5, 2015:
Rompin Member of Parliament Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis was laid to rest at the Makam Pahlawan of Masjid Negara, the national mosque, at 6pm today.
The hearse arrived at Masjid Negara at 3.15pm and funeral prayers were performed immediately after the Asar prayers.
During the funeral, the reading of the talkin (prayers) was conducted by Imam of Masjid Negara, Tan Sri Sheikh Ismail Muhammad.
Attending the ceremony were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
In addition, cabinet members, Umno leaders and Bandar Tun Razak MP Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim were also seen paying their last respects.
Meanwhile, family members of Jamaluddin said after the burial said that they were not ready to talk to the media.
“I’m still not ready to talk with media… I’m distraught,” said Jamaluddin’s widow, Puan Seri Kalsom Ismail.
“No comment,” said Jamaluddin’s son, Ikhwan Hafiz.
Jamaluddin was one of the six killed when a helicopter crashed near Semenyih, Kajang, yesterday while on the way to Subang airport from Kuantan.
