BUKIT MERTAJAM,  APRIL 5 , 2015:

PKR should break away from the dynasty system and place a candidate who is not a family member of incarcerated opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said a pro-Pakatan Rakyat blogger who is also from Permatang Pauh.

Rosli Yusof, 43, who blogs on wasiatpejuang.blogspot.com, said PKR should realise that the younger generation wants to break away from the  dynasty system and placing Anwar’s family member as candidate there could jeopardise the party’s chances of winning in the by-election.

He said that people might get fed up thinking that Pakatan Rakyat has no other capable leaders other than Anwar’s family members.

Rosli, who is a full time blogger, was speaking to reporters last night during a “lepak santai” ( informal chat session) with PKR president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail  in Perda.

“If PKR were to put Anwar’s daughter Nurul Nuha here as the candidate for the parliamentary seat, this is a sheer waste and a move that should not rejected.

“As we know,  there are so many other capable candidates be it from PAS or DAP but if they are bent on using the Anwar sentiment for the by-election here, then it is just sad and pathetic as it goes to show they themselves believe there is no one capable to contest here.”

Citing PAS as an example where he said the party had heavily relied on its late spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat to be taken around even when he was ill.

“Even after he has died,  they rode on the sympathy card to get the rakyat’s votes as though PAS has no other capable leaders.

“It is not like the locals here are casting Anwar aside or forgetting his contributions to Permatang Pauh. . We understand the ‘kezaliman ‘ against him but it does not warrant his family members contesting there.”

The Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat, formerly held by in incarcerated opposition leader Datuk Seri fell vacant after it was announced the Dewan Rakyat speaker following the rejection of the royal pardon applied by Wan Azizah after his sodomy case in which he was found guilty by the Federal Court and is currently serving a five-year jail term.

In August 2008, a by-election was held in Permatang Pauh.

The parliamentary seat became vacant after the resignation of the then incumbent, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, on July 31, 2008 to pave way for her husband to contest there where he had subsequently won.
