SEREMBAN, Dec 8, 2014:
Three people were killed in an accident involving an express bus, a trailer lorry and a lorry at Km265.7 of the North-South Expressway (north-bound) near the Seremban toll plaza here today, police said.
Seremban police chief Asst Commissioner Muhamad Zaki Harun said the dead were express bus driver Norzali Nordin, 56, of Taman Seri Paya Rumput Fasa 2, Malacca, bus passenger Rafidah Abdul Amid alias Abdul Hamid, 34, of Bernam, Hulu Selangor, and the driver of the trailer lorry, who had yet to be identified.
“All three of them died on the spot. Their bodies were sent to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital here.
“Ten bus passengers, who were slightly injured, were sent to the same hospital for treatment.”
Muhammad Zaki said the trailer lorry heading south skidded and rammed the road divider and veered onto an opposite lane of the highway at 3.35pm.
The express bus crashed into the trailer lorry and veered towards the left to a lorry stationed at a north-bound section of the highway where roadworks were going on, he said.
Muhammad Zaki said 12 firemen from the Seremban 2 and Nilai fire and rescue stations helped remove the dead and injured.
The accident caused heavy traffic congestion on both sides of the expressway, he added.
