KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15, 2014:

Police have detained another teacher and an insurance agent in connection with the leaked Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination papers.

Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Division chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Gan Kong Meng said with the arrest, a total of six individuals had been apprehended thus far.

Three teachers were nabbed in Penang, one in Perak yesterday evening.

Later that night police arrested a teacher in Kedah and the insurance agent in Sentul.

Last night’s arrest brought the number of teachers hauled up over the incident to five.

Police also seized their communication gadgets.

To date police have questioned 12 people over the leaked examination papers, namely, five Malaysian Examination Board personnel, a reporter and five teachers.

The UPSR Science examination, which was scheduled for Sept 11, was postponed following a leak of three examination papers the day before.

On Thursday, it was found that the UPSR English papers 1 and 2 were also found to have been leaked, causing an uproar among parents.

Some 470,000 UPSR students would now sit the English and Science papers on Sept 30.

Examination Board director Dr Na’imah Ishak and deputy director of operations Dr Wan Ilian Wan Salleh were suspended immediately after the fiasco.
